Public File
Each local commercial radio station in the UK has requirements in respect of its music and local content, such as news, speech levels etc. These requirements are set out in the station "Format", a document issued by Ofcom, the UK’s radio regulator.

This Public File contains details of the elements that Ofcom regulate, such as music tracks, local news etc. It is intended to give you a better understanding of our output and what we are doing for our local community.

News Bulletin Schedule
Red Dragon FM broadcasts news bulletins on the half-hour between 6am and 9am, and 5 and 7, with hourly bulletins from 6am and 7pm on weekdays. These bulletins contain a full mix of local, national and world stories, along with sport, weather and entertainment news. At the weekend, bulletins containing local, national and world news are broadcast on Red Dragon FM between 7am and 1pm. These bulletins are produced and broadcast from our studios in Cardiff.

The Programme Schedule

Red Dragon’s programme schedule can be found here.

Red Dragon FM is automated weekdays between 2300 – 0600.  This is produced and delivered locally by Red Dragon FM.

All of Red Dragon FM’s weekday daytime output and weekend output is produced and presented from our local studios.
The only programme not produced and broadcast from our studios in Cardiff Bay is the Big Top 40 show. This is produced at studios, owned and operated by Red Dragon FM’s parent company Global Radio.

Ofcom, the government regulator with responsibilities for local radio, has produced localness guidelines that this station adheres to. These guidelines can be read here:

Events/charities support or coverage
Red Dragon FM regularly attends local events to help support the community.

Red Dragon FM will be at events across South Wales this summers. Listen on 103.2 and 97.4fm to find out more.

This year, Red Dragon FM was the official radio station for all of the Cancer Research UK Race for Life events in South East Wales.  There were for Race for life events during the summer and a 10k event in Cardiff in October. In all, over 10,000 people took part in these races this summer.

 

Red Dragon FM was the official radio station for the Cardiff Half Marathon in October. Organised by Barnado's the event had 11,000 runners taking part.

In terms of events, over 5,000 people joined Red Dragon FM in June for Ponty's Big Weekend. Thanks to RCT Council, The Sugababes played live in Ponty with Red Dragon.

 

Red Dragon FM has supported hundreds of other events across the year including the Mens Health Run 10k, The Stereophonics at Cardiff Castle, all of the major fireworks displays for 2009 and all of the major Christmas lights switch on's, including Cardiff and Newport city centres.

Recent Programme Highlights

Red Dragon FM has launched a new breakfast show in 2009. You can hear Kam and Sally at breakfast on Red Dragon FM every weekday morning between 6am and 10am. Recent guests have included Dr Who star David Tenent, X Factor star Rhydian, pop icon Lady Ga Ga, Robbie Williams, Alexandra Burke, Peter Andre, Katie Price, JLS and Cheryl Cole.

We're proud to support sport in South Wales. In the last 6 months we have broadcast live from Cardiff city centre in the build up to Welsh rugby international's against Canada, New Zealand and Australia. We also broadcast live from the farewell to Ninian Park celebrations for Cardiff City football club.

Over the summer of 2009, Red Dragon FM has been playing Access All Areas. This competition has given our listeners the  chance to win tickets to see acts such as Boyzone, Oasis, The Saturdays, Anastacia, U2 and Take That.  Entries to win the Take That tickets broke all station records.

Welsh language

Although we do not broadcast Welsh speaking programmes, some of our commercials are broadcast in Welsh and we occasionally produce Welsh speaking content for our web site.
